Conservatory education and event updates

March 17, 2020

Dear Concordia Conservatory Community,

Today, we are announcing that Concordia Conservatory will deliver private lessons and therapy remotely from March 27 - April 3 (Spring Break is Saturday April 4 – Sunday April 12, 2020).

Concordia Conservatory POVO, musical theatre, Suzuki classes and early childhood will begin remotely, and we will re-schedule makeup classes through the end of the 2019-20 academic year.  *Academy will resume with remote teaching of non performing classes this Saturday, March 21.

As you well know, this is a rapidly developing situation, and Concordia will continue to take a gradualist approach as conditions and the most updated guidance evolve.

Latest updates

• We are committed to the health and safety of our Concordia Community. To date, Concordia has no confirmed cases of COVID-19 associated with our campus or student body. Out of an abundance of caution, the campus continues to implement social distancing protocols.

• The transition of Concordia’s academic operations to online and remote private lessons has been successful.  Faculty will continue to be in contact with you directly to set up the teaching format and schedule for weekly private lessons through April 3.  We continue to use the remote formats of ZOOM, FaceTime and YouTube and for those faculty and students who are comfortable, face to face instruction in a large studio setting in Stein Hall.

• The March 29 Concerts at the OSilas presentation of Notes with Power and Purpose has been canceled and will be rescheduled to the Fall of 2020. All ticket holders for the March 29 concert will be honored at the scheduled Fall performance.

• The April 25 Hoch Chamber Music Series concert A Night of Civics and Civility will also be rescheduled to another date (to be determined).

Please continue to monitor your e-mail and our website for daily updates.

Wishing you and your family health, peace and music and the arts in your home.

All the best,

Kathleen Suss
