Concordia Conservatory of Music
Play-a-thon for Scholarship
Concordia Conservatory presents its annual Music Play-a-thon for Scholarship, a fundraiser for the Conservatory’s Scholarship Fund and Music Outreach Program, on Saturday, March 14 from 9:30am-4:00pm at the Sommer Center and Schoenfeld Campus Center at Concordia College New York. This event is free and open to the public.
At the core of Music Play-a-thon for Scholarship, Conservatory faculty and students collect sponsors of support of their performances—these instrumentalists and vocalists perform in five- and ten-minute intervals throughout the day in the Sommer Center. All funds go directly to the Conservatory Scholarship Fund and the Outreach Program.
At 11 am, Concordia Conservatory will present Luck be a Lady by Rami Vamos, the final concert in the Musical Adventures series, and at 2:00 pm, Band Bash kicks off, featuring Conservatory rock bands. Both events take place in the Schoenfeld Campus Center.
Concordia Conservatory has been holding annual student and faculty fundraising events since 2003. The Music Play-a-thon for Scholarship ensures that students with promising musical talent can study at the Conservatory regardless of their ability to afford tuition. The fundraiser also supports the tuition-free outreach the Conservatory offers at Project Music Achievement at Rosedale in the Bronx, the Andrus Early Learning Center, The Wartburg Senior Music Programs, and area elementary, middle and high schools in communities with inadequate arts budgets. The scholarship fund awards over 300 merit and need- based scholarships each academic year and its outreach program reaches over 2,000 students annually.
