Concordia College New York has chosen Civics and Civility as its college theme for the 2019/2020 academic year. Students across disciplines will be challenged to reflect on the theme from differing perspectives and through multiple dimensions. Who defines civility and who benefits from the resulting restraints? What are the ethics of civility? When is it right to follow the norms of civility and when is it right to break those norms? What are the rights and responsibilities of citizenship? What can history teach us about the relationship between government and the governed? These and many other questions will be considered as students build upon their civic knowledge, skills and agency.
