The statistics around relationship abuse are daunting, but Katie Hood, CEO of the One Love Foundation, believes they can be changed.
Concordia College’s popular Business Breakfast series will present Building a Movement from the Ground Up with Hood on Friday, October 13. Hood will recount the successes and challenges she has faced leading One Love’s efforts to educate, empower and activate young people in a movement to end relationship violence.
One Love was created to honor Yeardley Love, a UVA senior who was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend in 2010, a tragedy the foundation believes could have been avoided if she or her family had understood the unhealthy and increasingly dangerous relationship behaviors they were seeing.
Since launching its national educational efforts in 2015, One Love has reached over 135 thousand students with its educational workshop, Escalation, and over 60 million people through the #ThatsNotLove digital campaign.
In 2011, Crain’s New York Business selected Katie for its “40 Under 40” list, recognizing New York City’s top business leaders under the age of 40. A graduate of Duke University and Harvard Business School, Katie’s professional experience also includes time at Goldman, Sachs & Co and Bain & Company.
