Search Committee Mandate

The Presidential Search Committee is an advisory committee which shall assist the Board of Regents in the selection of the ninth president of Concordia College. The Committee appointed by the Board is made up of members of Concordia’s Board, faculty and staff. The members of the Search Committee have been selected with the expectation that there will be confidence in the Committee’s integrity, in the discretion of its members, in its vision, in its knowledge of Lutheran higher education, its experience and judgment, its understanding of the mission of Concordia College and its role in local community.

In carrying out its mandate, the committee is:

 

  • Expected to be responsible for managing the process of identifying potential candidates for position of President of Concordia College.

  • Expected to conduct its activities in accordance with LCMS Bylaw 3.10.5.5.2, including preparing a description of the needs of the college based on listening forums, the CUS report findings, and other resources.

  • Expected to keep the Board of Regents fully apprised of its activities and progress.

  • Expected to thoroughly investigate the experience, background and skills of the most qualified nominees, evaluate their match with the sought after presidential qualifications and report to the Board its observations and recommendations of no fewer than five such candidates for consideration.

  • Expected to involve the expertise and input of the administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni and others as appropriate in reviewing prospective candidates.

  • Expected to carry out its responsibilities in accordance with the time-line established by the Board of Regents.

  • To maintain full confidentiality in the conduct of its duties.
