Nathalie Virgintino"Concordia is a supportive, friendly community that allows you to grow academically and socially!"

Why did you decide to attend Concordia?
I chose Concordia because I was specifically looking for a small college that emphasized the liberal arts, traditional values, and the importance of community.

Do you see how what you learn in the classroom has real-world application?
The emphasis on the liberal arts gives students a solid foundation of knowledge that I think is necessary for a meaningful life. Everything I learned in my philosophy classes through my literature classes is applicable to my program of study and future career.

Why did you choose English as your Program of Study?
I chose to study English because I personally feel that the major gives people an insight into life. I appreciate studying many different authors throughout history and I believe that literature provides people with a sense of connection.

What has been your most rewarding experience so far?
I enjoyed the volunteer work I did with The Chapel School for a Fellows Program project. The opportunity I had working with children was such a rewarding experience because I was able to take part in their learning experience.

What has surprised you most about Concordia?
I’ve always been impressed with how friendly and supportive the faculty is in providing for the students. You can tell that the professors and advisors genuinely care about the success of their students. It’s so wonderful to be able to just spend time with and talk to a professor!

What makes you happiest about your experience at Concordia?
Concordia’s emphasis on community is carried through the air on campus. You feel the support in a small-campus environment like Concordia. The sense of friendship is very supportive.

What do you hope to do beyond Concordia?
I hope to continue my education in graduate school with a Master’s degree in English Literature or Art History.
