Ensemble Information – 2015-2016 School Year

Un-Auditioned Ensembles
Women’s Chorale

Rehearsals are M and TH from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the fall semester.
The Concordia Women’s Chorale is an un-auditioned choral ensemble for treble voices open to all students, faculty, staff and community members.  The ensemble will teach basic music reading and notation skills.  The Women’s Chorale has a variety of responsibilities throughout the fall semester including singing in chapel services, worship services, and the Winter Concert.  There is a $25 course fee attached to help defray the cost of music.  It is strongly encouraged that all students be concurrently enrolled in voice lessons.
Students interested in Women’s Chorale simply need to sign-up for the choir with their advisor.

Men’s Glee
Rehearsals are W and TH from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the fall semester.
The Concordia Men’s Glee is an un-auditioned choral ensemble for non-treble voices open to all students, faculty, staff and community members.  The ensemble will teach basic music reading and notation skills.  The Men’s Glee has a variety of responsibilities throughout the fall semester including singing in chapel services, worship services, and the Winter Concert.  There is a $25 course fee attached to help defray the cost of music.  It is strongly encouraged that all students be concurrently enrolled in voice lessons.
Students interested in Men’s Glee simply need to sign-up for the choir with their advisor.

GospelKnights
Rehearsals are TH from 8:00 – 10:00 pm in the fall and spring semesters.
The Concordia GospelKnights is an un-auditioned choral ensemble open to all students, faculty, staff and community members interested in singing, playing, or dancing.  Members of the GospelKnights not only sing, but incorporate movement and spoken word into their performances.  The choir has a variety of responsibilities including singing in chapel services, concerts, and worship services both on- and off-campus.  There is a course fee attached to GospelKnights of $50.  It is strongly encouraged that all students be concurrently enrolled in voice lessons. 
Students interested in GospelKnights simply need to sign-up for the choir with their advisor.

Handbell Ensemble
Rehearsals are T from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the fall and spring semesters.
The Concordia Handbell Ensemble is open to all students, faculty, staff and community members.  Members of the Handbell Ensemble should be able to read music.  The ensemble has a variety of responsibilities including playing in chapel services, concerts, and worship services mostly on-campus.

Auditioned Ensembles
Tour Choir

Rehearsals are M, W, and TH from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the spring semester only.
The Concordia Tour Choir is an intermediate level audition-only choral ensemble for 24-30 students.  Members of the Tour Choir should have previous choral ensemble experience and be proficient or developing music readers.  The Tour Choir will embark on a Florida Choir Tour during spring break in March 2016.  Tour Choir members are required to be concurrently enrolled in Voice lessons.

The Tour Choir has a variety of responsibilities including singing in chapel services, concerts, worship services, and tour.  There is a course fee attached to Tour Choir to help defray the costs of tour, and this year the course fee is $350. This fee will pay for the majority of the costs for the Florida Tour. 

Students interested in auditioning for the Tour Choir will need to prepare a solo song, or hymn.  Auditions will be held the first week of December in the Sommer Center. 

Chamber Choir
Rehearsals are M and W from 3:00 – 4:00 pm full year commitment.
The Concordia Chamber Choir is an advanced audition-only choral ensemble for between 8 and 14 students depending on how many students audition and meet the requirements of the ensemble.  Members of the Chamber Choir should be able to read music at a proficient level and must practice music outside of rehearsals as required.  Chamber Choir members must be also enrolled in Women’s Chorale or Men’s Glee in the fall and Tour Choir in the spring.

The Chamber Choir is a year-long commitment, especially in the 2015-2016 school year as the ensemble will embark on a Germany Choir Tour in May 2016.  The chamber choir has a variety of responsibilities throughout the school year including singing in chapel services, run-out concerts, worship services, and tours.  There is a course fee attached to Chamber Choir to help defray the costs of tour, and this year the course fee is $2000 ($1000/ semester). This will pay for the majority of the costs for the Germany Tour. 

Students interested in auditioning for the Tour Choir will need to prepare a solo song, or hymn.  Auditions will be held the weekend before classes start in the Sommer Center. 
All students must audition/ re-audition each year.

Music Ensemble Credits and Grading
All Concordia Ensembles are 1-credit courses.  Auditioned ensembles are graded and un-auditioned ensembles are Pass/Fail.  Music ensembles will result in an overload fee if they are taken and student has a full schedule for the semester.
