Amplifying Concordia's Voice

July 14, 2017

Concordia College New York is evolving its music program to greater address and amplify its voice in tune with its mission.

As the Concordia Conservatory continues to expand with an extended campus in Stamford, Connecticut, its world-class faculty and programs will also be integrated into the College’s offerings including chamber music, composition, and applied music/private instruction.

"Concordia continues its commitment to training students for lives of service to Church and community through music," said Dr. Jason Thoms, Concordia's Dean of Arts and Sciences and Director of Choral Activities. "The integration with the Concordia Conservatory will provide our students with new and expanded creative opportunities which will enhance their Concordia Experience."

Concordia is expanding its music offerings by adding an 18-credit Music minor. Concordia continues to offer a Music concentration within the Interdisciplinary Studies major.

The Choirs offered include a Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, Tour Choir, and GospelKnights.

The Tour Choir and GospelKnights will continue to serve both on and off-campus with its musical offerings.  The Choirs are open to all Concordia students and provide the perfect platform to lend service through song.

"This integrated approach is inclusive of the entire Concordia community and will enhance the future music life of Concordia College students,” said Concordia Conservatory Executive Director Kathleen Suss. “We look forward to the infinite power this brings to all of our campuses through music."
