The Business Club is one of the most active organizations on campus. Our activities provide educational, social, and entertaining experiences to the student body. The Business Club activities have been successful due to our responsible, organized, and efficient project managers.
Organization Mission Statement:
To provide students with various business experiences outside the classroom through a student-run organization.
Events
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” probably one of the most interesting and imaginative events the Business Club has initiated. This event welcomes back recent graduates of all studies and majors to the College to share with current students the good, the bad, and the ugly of life after college, searching for a job and being thrown into the “real world". This event has proved to be a hit for current students as graduates return to share their exciting and sometimes amusing stories of life after college.
Expo Day
You might be asking yourself: “What is Expo Day?” Expo Day occurs once a semester, and is a day of off campus events that Concordia organizes for all students. This event caters to students of all studies and majors, and best of all its free! In recent years, The Business Club organized a trip for Business students in their junior and senior year to visit the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank. The past several years, "Lunch with an executive" was set up for business students to attend. This event could not have taken place without the help of some of the areas business leaders, such as PepsiCo, Reader's Digest and JP Morgan, Partners. The tables turned in this event and the area’s business leaders treated students to lunch and a tour of their facility. Students had the opportunity to get a first hand look at what a typical day was like for some of the area’s business leaders, and the opportunity to ask a lot of questions about what it is they do, and how their company operates. This event was a great success.
Basketball Shootout
The Basketball Shootout is a fundraiser that is sponsored by the Business Club and will be held on the first home game of the men’s basketball team. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Guest Speakers
Each year the club brings a special guest to the school to share their profession with students. Past speakers have included: Ms Mary Quinn, who has survived six mergers and acquisitions in corporate America; Ms. Gail A. Marquis, a U. S. Olympic Women's Basketball player who spoke on Leadership; and Jules Wall, CEO of Greystone Bakery, who spoke on corporate social responsibility.
Etiquette Night
Have you ever been to a restaurant and didn’t know why you had six or more pieces of silverware at your setting when you only really needed one or two? Well Etiquette Night can help you. Open to all students, this special dinner that takes place on campus in the spring semester introducing all aspects of dining etiquette for real world situations. During the seven-course meal, you learn the etiquette of ordering a meal, what you should and should not order at a “professional dinner", which pieces of silverware to use and when to use them, and why they serve sherbet between courses.
Ski Trip
The annual ski trip takes us to the Berkshires for a full day of winter fun! With an early start to a day that is filled with excitement, this is when the school’s skiers and boarders get their rush! The trip is open to all students regardless of ski or snowboard level, and offers the complete package of lift ticket, lunch, and a free lesson with expert skiers, and of course a day filled with fun!
