Commuting Students
For most commuting students, The Concordia Experience involves making the college campus their “home away from home.” They quickly discover that relationships with classmates, friends, faculty and staff are vital for getting the most out of their college years. Commuting students participate in all aspects of campus life, including choirs, athletic teams, drama productions, yearbook staff, clubs, daily chapel services, community service events, off-campus adventures and activities planned by the Residence Life Staff. They hold elected or appointed positions in the Student Government Association (SGA), the Student Life Judiciary Committee (SLJC), the Student Activities Committee (SAC), and various other committees that meet regularly.
Between classes, Schoenfeld Campus Center and the Commons are popular places for commuting students to socialize with friends, study and/or get something to eat. Krenz Academic Center provides quieter study areas, assistance from librarians, the Writing Center and over twenty “wired” computing stations in addition to being wireless throughout (as are Schoenfeld and the Commons.) The Fitness Center in Meyer Athletic Center (MAC) is also available to all students from early morning into evening hours.
Commuting students who drive to campus must register their vehicle with the Manager of Public Safety, obtain a permit and park on college property. Arrangements for lockers available in Schoenfeld Campus Center may be made through College Services. All commuting students are provided access to the College’s computing network and email, so connections with campus are never more than a click away.
