Concordia College Archive Collection

Introduction:

The Concordia College Archives preserves historical records of the college, which was started in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church New York City in 1881. The archives document the college, beginning at its first location in Hawthorne, NY as well as the purchase of the present site and all its additions in Bronxville, NY.

The collection includes documents, office files, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, photographs, college publications, musical recordings, audio visual materials and artifacts.

Access:

Archival collections are open to Concordia students, faculty and staff, as well as the scholarly public, by appointment.  Researchers must adhere to guidelines for use of the collections and should notify the archivist ahead of time to ensure assistance since the archivist is only available on a part-time basis.

Photocopying:

Photocopies will be made by archivist or any reference desk staff.  The archivist reserves the right not to reproduce fragile or damaged materials. Photocopies are intended for personal scholarly use only and do not constitute permission to publish. Photocopying is $ .10 per page.

Permission to Publish:

Requests to publish should be made to the Director of Library Services.  Please note: Concordia College does not hold copyright on all Special Collections materials. General:

The various collections at Concordia archives are being completed on an on-going basis and researchers are encouraged to check either the Concordia website or with the archivist as new materials are added. In the future an inventory of rare books will be made available to special researchers.

We provide you with finding aids which are descriptions of an archival collection, usually containing a history of the person or organization that produced the collection, any peculiarities and an inventory of its contents. Each collection consists of a short introduction, a folder list and the size of the collection.

Location:

The Concordia College Archive is located in the basement of the Scheele Memorial Library/Donald A. Krenz Academic Center on campus.
