Description of ESL Courses:
- Grammar: The focus is on understanding English grammar and on using grammar correctly in written and spoken English.
- Writing: Students practice writing activities to help them develop competency and versatility in expressing themselves on paper; they learn how to write well-organized paragraphs, letters and essays for a variety of purposes.
- Reading: Students read and discuss short stories, texts, news articles and other material to learn new information, improve reading skills and increase vocabulary.
- Listening: Lower-level listening classes work on understanding everyday conversation. Upper-level classes emphasize listening comprehension and note-taking for academic purposes. Video and audio tapes are used extensively.
- Speaking: Students improve speaking and pronunciation through guided and free conversation, role playing, discussion, interviews and short oral presentations.
