Benefits

Students in the International Center for English as a Second Language have the benefit of:

  • Small classes, usually 12 to 15 students
  • Experienced, native-speaker teachers with advanced degrees
  • All Concordia facilities, including the new Krenz Academic Center, the computer information commons, athletic facilities, Schoenfeld Student Center, and music practice rooms
  • Interaction with Americans through a variety of programs, including athletics, music and clubs such as the International and Business Clubs
  • Advisement on attractions and special activities for international students in the New York City area.
  • Resident ICESL students live in the dormitories with other Concordia students.

Students in the top levels of proficiency, with the recommendation of the ICESL director, may take one or two regular college courses in addition to ESL courses. International students admitted to the regular college program may be required to take one or two ESL courses to strengthen their language proficiency.
