Social Work Program Profile

Concordia students of Social Work become involved in a way of life that directly touches the lives of others. This CSWE accredited program is thorough and demanding, but meaningful, including a liberal arts core plus course work in psychology, sociology, human behavior, and the social services.  Classroom studies take on personal meaning when applied to a full array of fieldwork experiences, working with children, families, the elderly, and the physically and mentally disabled. Every social work student has an opportunity to put in 500 hours in supervised social work settings. We view the world as our classroom—studying with social work professionals in Washington, D.C., Manhattan, New York State, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. In addition, students gain invaluable experience by attending and presenting at social work conferences. Consider these other great reasons to earn your social work degree at Concordia:

  • Graduates from our CSWE accredited program may complete their master’s in social work in one year at any school that accepts advanced standing.
  • The New York State Social Work Education Association has recognized the incredible caliber of our students by electing three students over the past six years as student of the year! This is from among about 30 undergraduate programs across the state.
  • A specialization is offered in Family Life Ministry, a unique program which is a complement to the social work curriculum specifically for church workers in the LCMS.
