In order to support the goals and objectives of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program, the Writing Center offers supplemental instruction in writing to students in all disciplines. The writing specialist and the peer tutors, who form the center’s staff, work with students in various aspects of writing ranging from organization, development, and research methods to mechanical and proofreading skills.
Students who exhibit particular challenges in writing receive individualized instruction and extensive practice in the fundamentals of writing. Other students may choose to work directly on a particular class assignment. Students also have access to word-processing equipment and a variety of autodidactic computer software. The Writing Center is located on the lower level of the Scheele Memorial Library.
