Master of Science Degree in Education

               

To prospective students:

Special Education is a profession where qualified teachers are in demand and highly-valued.  Special Educators touch the lives of children and their families by implementing  evidence-based practices that help children to learn and achieve success in their schools and communities.  These teachers work closely with parents, other professionals, school staff, and administrators to provide effective programs for their students.

Our Programs Offer:

A comprehensive plan of study leading to  initial/professional certification in Special Education grades 1-6 or initial certification in General/Special education grades 1-6

Competitive, affordable tuition rates with Financial Aid available to qualified students

A flexible course schedule of afternoon and evening classes and hybrid courses (combined classroom-based and online classes.)

Faculty with expertise in Special Education as well as specializations in Literacy, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Assistive Technology, Classroom Management, Research, and Leadership (Our Assistive Technology class will be taught in the technology center at the Westchester Institute for Human Development.)

Access to graduate advisors through on-campus orientations, face-to-face meetings, and email conferencing

•An iPad to all enrolled students.  There are several hundred Special Education apps available as learning tools, some of which are integrated into the curriculum

Culminating student teaching experience offered during the summer semester to students who have completed program requirements

An opportunity to join professional organizations such as the Council for Exceptional Children at reduced student rates

Financial aid and tuition incentives are available for qualified applicants.

Upon graduation, students will be prepared to teach diverse groups of children in a variety of classroom settings and school locations.
